It was only a few days ago that FX announced The Strain would be returning for its fourth, and final, season on July 16th. Now that the date is out in the open, though, it’s time for the marketing blitz to begin, and it all kicks off with this newly released promo, which is appropriately titled “Push.” Though it doesn’t give us much in the way of footage, the quick tease it does deliver should be enough to send chills down the spines of fans everywhere. Creepy and unsettling, it paints a grim picture of what’s to come when the show returns, and after the explosive (pun intended) season 3 finale, we’re very excited to see how things look.
From what we understand, nine months will have passed when the new season begins, and the world has fallen into darkness, with the strigoi gaining control and the Master establishing a totalitarian regime. Things certainly don’t seem like they’re going too well for our merry band of heroes then, and the plot summary below teases more of what you can expect from this final outing for the show.
As the fourth and final season begins, nine months have passed. The world has fallen into darkness, and the strigoi are in control. The explosion at the end of season three triggered a global nuclear apocalypse. The resulting nuclear winter liberated the strigoi, allowing them to move about during daytime, and allowing the Master to establish a totalitarian regime. Preying on the fears of the populace, the Master and his minions have created an unsettling alliance in “The Partnership.”
The majority of humans are now working for the strigoi, operating with a single understanding — collaborate or die. With the world in disarray and our heroes disbanded, each of them will have to overcome personal hardship and defy death for even the smallest chance at fighting back… All the while, the Master reigns supreme, furthering his scheme for the end of the world as we know it. In the face of annihilation…do our heroes have what it takes to save humankind?
With the season 4 premiere date now announced, you can expect the marketing campaign to really begin to ramp up as we approach that July date. Until then, be sure to check out the new promo for The Strain up above and drop a comment in the usual place letting us know if you plan on tuning in.
