Fans of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia rejoice, because the sun will be shining for a couple more years! FX has just renewed the popular sitcom for two more ten-episode seasons, and will continue airing the show on their new FXX channel.

The good news doesn’t stop there, either. Now that the show has been renewed, it’s become the longest-running live-action comedy in cable history. Furthermore, FX loves the leading trio so much that they aren’t only renewing the show, but are also giving the gang’s production banner, RCG Productions, a three-year deal that gives them the opportunity to pursue other projects as well.

The deal includes a prime premiere spot for a new, ten-episode series that they’ve created starring Tracy Morgan, which will air after the upcoming 10th season of It’s Always Sunny. In addition, FX has ordered pilot scripts for three new comedy series from RCG Productions: Harder, written by Glenn Howerton and Scott Marder; Blow Up Dolls written by and starring British comedian and writer Sarah Solemani; and We’re Good, Thanks written by Charlie Day along with his wife Mary Elizabeth Ellis and Artemis Pebdani (who guest star on It’s Always Sunny as The Waitress and Artemis, respectively).

We have no word yet on what these shows may be about, but the fact that they’re coming from the same guys who created one of TV’s most consistently hilarious series is reason enough to get excited. Plus, it’s good to know that It’s Always Sunny will be staying around for a bit longer, because Glenn Howerton gave us quite the scare last year when he said that the tenth season might be the last.
