Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. introduced a major new player from the comics at the beginning of season 4 in Gabriel Luna’s Robbie Reyes AKA Ghost Rider. While his version of the Spirit of Vengeance was well-received by fans, the character met a surprising end a while back when he was jettisoned to another dimension with his evil uncle Eli Morrow.
TVLine have now revealed, though, that Ghost Rider will return in AoS‘s fourth season finale, titled “World’s End.” The official Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Twitter account had previously teased the same thing with a post that hinted at “flamin’ hot weather” to come. Check it out below:

Going by the episode’s title, it doesn’t take much to guess that the finale will likely see Reyes travel back to our dimension to team up with Coulson and his gang and prevent rogue Life Model Decoy Aida, the current Big Bad, from destroying the planet.
Whether the character is returning for a simple cameo or is being set up to come back full-time, we don’t yet know. After all, we’ve heard mixed signals about plans for Ghost Rider in the MCU before. With Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s future still in doubt though, as a fifth season is yet to be ordered, it’s possible that ABC plans to replace the show with a Ghost Rider spinoff, hence the character’s return in what could be the series finale. Again though, there’s been no confirmation on the matter as of yet and right now, all we can do is speculate.
“World’s End” will air on ABC on Tuesday, May 16th. Meanwhile, the next episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., “Farewell, Cruel World!”, airs tomorrow, May 2nd.
