Those of you in attendance at San Diego Comic-Con this past week were given a few chances to watch the pilot episode for the CW’s upcoming Arrow spin-off, The Flash, and probably noticed a fun little Easter egg pointing to one of the scarlet speedster’s most notorious and outlandish super-villains, Gorilla Grodd. As it turns out, that was not just a clever nod to fans, and instead a hint that the hyper-intelligent, telepathic ape will be gracing our television screens.
That’s right, Gorilla Grodd will in fact appear on The Flash, as revealed by executive producer and DC chief creative officer Geoff Johns. Johns himself answered some questions at the Warner Brothers TV/DC Entertainment panel in Hall H late Saturday night and said the following about Grodd:
“You will see Grodd. That cage is not a mistake.”
Well, that’s certainly not much to go on, but it is confirmation directly from the horse’s mouth, so that has to count for something. Honestly, I’m not sure how they plan to bring Grodd to life on screen with a modest television budget, but if the show’s impressive super speed effects are any indication, it may certainly be possible.
Tell us, are you excited to see Gorilla Grodd on The Flash? Or do you think he’s too ridiculous a character to bring to the small screen? Sound off in the comments below, and if you haven’t seen the pilot already, tune into the CW on Wednesday, October 7th, 2014 for The Flash series premiere.
