Fans of the show with the most convoluted title on Earth, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, were treated to some good news when it was revealed that all eight episodes of the show would be available to watch on August 9, a marked departure from previous seasons, which released weekly.
Cast member Julia Lester, who plays Ashlyn Caswell on the show, shared the news on her Instagram page.
“4 years, 4 seasons, wildcats 4 ever,” she said in the celebratory post.
Showrunner Tim Federle also announced the news, and in a statement shared by The Hollywood Reporter, he said the show was always a quirky tribute to nerdy theater high school kids.
“This series was always about found family, and about making something you love with people you love. In other words, it was a tribute to theater kids,” Federle said. “I can’t wait for our dedicated fan base to watch this world-class cast take a final bow.”
On Instagram, Federle said “This will be our final, endgame season. This show brought the most extraordinary cast — and crew, and collaborators — to my life. To the fans who embraced our super-meta series, we ‘don’t not love you.’”
For those who don’t follow the show, the East High Wildcats are back from theater camp and working on a production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, however, Disney soon announces that High School Musical 4: The Reunion will film at the high school with original cast members and the Wildcats as extras. Confused? It’s a show for teens – get it together, it’s not that complicated.
After the show ends, Federle will move on to other projects at Disney thanks to his deal with the company. Check out the teaser trailer above. It’s now or never!
