Ever since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. drew to a close with its 136th and final episode back in August of 2020, a lot of Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been taking it for granted that Chloe Bennet‘s Quake is going to show up eventually.
After all, Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson was the show’s main character for all seven seasons, and he was a pivotal figure in the big screen franchise’s Phase One. The earlier runs were even considered canon, too, at least until Kevin Feige came to power as chief creative officer and decreed that nothing to happen before WandaVision mattered anymore.
However, the multiverse is now in play, so no comeback regardless of how far-fetched it may seem can be ruled out by any stretch of the imagination. By extension, Bennet has been rumored for countless projects already, with Secret Invasion always on the tip of the tongue ahead of its debut next month.
As much as the actress would love to get back into the superhero business, she dropped the crushing bombshell in an interview with ScreenRant that she hasn’t even so much as spoken to Marvel since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended.
“Of course, I would be open to it. Listen, there’s a lot of stuff around that. I so deeply love S.H.I.E.L.D. fans, because it’s their tenacity that got the show on air to begin with. I have not once been approached or asked or involved in anything after I’ve wrapped S.H.I.E.L.D., and I am not involved in anything that is coming out. I’ve not been asked, but I would be more than excited to put on the suit again. Of course, Daisy’s a big part of who I am. So, I would love to, but I have not been communicated with.”
Naturally, Andrew Garfield has single-handedly made it impossible to believe anyone when they say they’re not heading back to the world of capes and costumes, but Bennet does sound fairly adamant. Don’t bet on Secret Invasion, then, but something further in the future might be on the cards.
