Now that a brief promo has been released hyping the upcoming musical crossover involving Supergirl and The Flash, I guess that means the countdown can officially begin. What’s actually quite surprising is that the network managed to keep major plot points under wraps up until recently.
But, now that the cat is out of the bag, a new batch of images courtesy of Entertainment Weekly have offered our first look at Darren Criss as the Music Meister, the villain of the piece. From what we can tell, the song and dance aspects will be contained within a dream state, making the antagonist somewhat reminiscent of a Djinn and disproving previous theories of Earth-2’s involvement.
Furthermore, we’re given looks at Mon-El and Martian Manhunter making an appearance at S.T.A.R. Labs, which is doubly exciting because other than Kara herself, the supporting cast of Supergirl wasn’t able to partake in last fall’s four-show DC TV crossover. As such, dream interactions are about to be made reality.
For more information regarding “Duet,” please check out the official synopsis below:
DARREN CRISS (“GLEE”) GUEST STARS AS THE MUSIC MEISTER IN THE FLASH AND SUPERGIRL MUSICAL CROSSOVER – Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her.
However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.
Supergirl is set to kickoff things with a prologue of sorts on Monday, March 20, with The Flash serving as the true crossover on Tuesday, March 21 on The CW.
