Ready to get acquainted with Marvel’s Inhumans?
Black Bolt and the remainder of Attilan’s wartorn Royal Family are expected to stage their two-part debut via select IMAX theaters on September 1st, before all eight episodes make the jump over to ABC in the fall. And though we’re still awaiting confirmation on a specific premiere date, Marvel has announced that Inhumans will air on Friday nights at 9:00 pm ET, meaning Scott Buck’s (Iron Fist) ensemble series will slot in between 20/20 and ABC’s long-running fairytale series, Once Upon a Time. Prior to today’s switcheroo, the latter originally occupied a Sunday timeslot.
As for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., it seems as though the network is ready to hold fire on the show’s fifth season to carve out the necessary breathing space in which Inhumans will hopefully flourish. The official, extended synopsis is as follows, and Disney exec Mark Endemano is confident that the series is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Color us very, very excited.
Marvel’s Inhumans explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city. After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself. The legendary comic book series will be brought to life in a way that has never been done before, as a version of the first two episodes will be shown globally in IMAX theaters for a two-week period beginning September 1, 2017.
At the forefront of Marvel and ABC’s fantasy series is Anson Mount as Black Bolt, anchoring a cast comprised of Iwan Rheon (Maximus), Serinda Swan (Medusa), Eme Ikwuakor (Gorgon), Isabelle Cornish (Crystal), Ken Leung (Karnak), Ellen Woglom as an undisclosed character, Sonya Balmores (Auran) and, finally, Mike Moh as Triton.
Following in the footsteps of the show’s grand IMAX premiere, at which point those cinema-quality visual effects will surely shine for all to see, Inhumans is expected to roll out all eight episodes of its inaugural season via ABC. Expect each new installment to air on Friday nights at 9:00 pm ET.
