Ranking the best episode of Star Wars TV isn’t as easy as it first sounds, because while you can pretty much discount anything from the 1985 animated Droids and its sister series Ewoks, you still have to sift through hundreds of episodes across dozens of series from decades’ worth of small-screen production. This is why it was particularly bold of one fan on the Star Wars subreddit to declare that they had found the absolute best episode.
And it was doubly bold of them to decide that it was an episode of The Book of Boba Fett, whose second half was dominated by what can only be described as “The Mandalorian Season 2.5.” While many fans were happily surprised to suddenly find themselves catching up with bounty hunter Din Djarin and his Baby Yoda sidekick Grogu, it was still considered odd and almost unsporting to have the Mando duo essentially take over a series that was otherwise failing on its own terms.
The most popular response was from a user named Goofy555, who would be happy to watch Luke and baby Grogu training, hang out after their workouts, and maybe make S’mores. Just like we all did when we were younger before the responsibility of paying rent weighed on our shoulders:
While Erwin9910 is worried about casual fans who are going to tune into The Mandalorian’s next season and find themselves halfway through a story that started in another series. We remember being that idealistic once, caring about others. But now this business has made us a little more cutthroat, a little more kill-or-be-killed.
Obi-Ewan, on the other hand, finds that at the end of the day he just wants to sit back and spend some quality time with some old friends. And you gotta grab your pleasures where you can find them:
While Star Wars fans may argue about which is the best episode of a TV series, there’s one thing we can all agree on; if they can make Luke Skywalker young again for The Book of Boba Fett, maybe they can do it for us all.
