Jessica Jones Season 2 Is Even More Binge-Worthy Than The First, According To Krysten Ritter

If Marvel's small-screen universe has faltered in the run up to The Defenders - Luke Cage and Iron Fist were both shackled by pacing issues and, in the case of the latter, cries of whitewashing - the studio's Netflix arm put its best foot forward thanks to the one-two punch of Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

If Marvel’s small-screen universe has faltered in the run up to The Defenders – Luke Cage and Iron Fist were both shackled by pacing issues and, in the case of the latter, cries of whitewashing – the studio’s Netflix arm put its best foot forward thanks to the one-two punch of Daredevil and Jessica Jones.

And though they weren’t without faults of their own, each standalone series drew praise for its ability to grapple with dark, adult-oriented material. For Jessica Jones, themes of alcoholism and domestic violence coursed through the veins of Melissa Rosenberg’s 13-parter, and its nuanced take on abusive relationships struck a chord with Netflix subscribers the world over. Such a strong reception led to a scenario in which the online streaming giant quickly ordered a second season of the Krysten Ritter-fronted drama, which will seemingly be more binge-worthy than the first.

That’s according to Ritter herself, who spoke with Rotten Tomatoes (via Screen Rant) about the current TV lineup in general. When the conversation turned toward the Marvel universe and Jessica Jones in particular, the actress then advised Netflix subscribers to savor the show’s upcoming second season – just “be prepared to cancel your weekend plans” if (when?) you find yourself hooked to the screen.

Per RT:

I feel like it’s a binge show big time. This season maybe even more so than last. Even as I’m getting the episodes and reading them on the page, they ramp up so much at the end that it’s kinda hard to not want to just dive into the next one! So maybe try and savor it, but be prepared to cancel your weekend plans?

Currently lensing across parts of NYC, the second season of Jessica Jones will likely be with us late next year. But Marvelites won’t have to wait too much longer before Krysten Ritter’s whip-smart detective waltzes back onto the small screen, whiskey in hand, as Jones is one of four heroes set to headline The Defenders when Marvel and Netflix’s truncated team-up series bows on August 18th.
