We recently got word that filming for the second season of Marvel and Netflix’s Jessica Jones was underway in New York City, and now we have our first batch of images from the set to prove it. There’s nothing terribly exciting here, but we do get a glimpse of returning stars Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker and Krysten Ritter as the “smartass detective” of the title, still rocking that leather jacket/blue jeans ensemble.
Plot details for the new season are still under wraps, but a recent character breakdown may have provided us with a pretty good idea of who’ll be joining Miss Jones on her latest adventure. Though it’s little more than a theory right now, speculation points to fan-favorite Marvel Comics villain Typhoid Mary stepping in to replace David Tennant’s Kilgrave as the main antagonist. The likes of Paladin, Dr. Karl Malus and Ian Soo may also be in the mix. Plus, Luke Cage star Mike Colter recently stated that this next batch of JJ episodes would be “dark and heavy,” which makes one wonder just how much bleaker this show can possibly get.
As far as new casting additions go, we found out back in March that Golden Globe-winning actress Janet McTeer had signed on in an undisclosed role, but we do know that the person she’ll be playing will have “an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.”
We still don’t have an official premiere date for Jessica Jones season 2 just yet, but Ritter will reprise the role for The Defenders in August. In the meantime, you can check out the set snaps in the gallery below.
