The Disney Plus roster of Star Wars exclusives looks to be assembling a core creative and directorial team, with many crew members from The Mandalorian involved in both Obi-Wan Kenobi and The Book of Boba Fett. Deborah Chow helmed Mando’s third installment “The Sin” before taking the reins for the entirety of Ewan McGregor’s return, but Temuera Morrison’s solo series is sticking to the Din Djarin playbook in more ways than one.
Not only is the protagonist a fan favorite bounty hunter with a mysterious past, who’ll no doubt be aided by or pitted against a handful of recognizable characters, but several Mandalorian alumni will be stepping behind the camera. As well as joining the producorial team, Robert Rodriguez was confirmed to be directing at least one episode of The Book of Boba Fett a long time ago, and now Morrison has revealed that Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Bryce Dallas Howard will all be calling the shots on their second Star Wars streaming series.
“We’ve got some great directors onboard, Robert Rodriguez, Favreau, Bryce, Dave Filoni. It’s just a new world! It’s a new world. They like to keep the Star Wars stuff under [lock and] key. But, I think we’re blessed in the way Favreau has all that Marvel experience, so we know where those storylines go. Let’s see what happens. Let’s put it this way: You’re going to love it!”
There’s been no official confirmation on an episode count as of yet, but IMDb lists The Book of Boba Fett as having seven chapters, so there might even be another surprise guest or two in the pipeline. Nobody has directed more episodes of The Mandalorian than Filoni’s three, while Howard took charge of one each across the first and second runs. Favreau oversaw the Season 2 premiere and that’s been it so far, but he’s obviously got enough on his plate as the brains behind the entire small screen operation.
Calling The Book of Boba Fett ‘The Mandalorian Season 2.5′ doesn’t seem to be very wide of the mark, then, and all of the aforementioned names have proven their Star Wars chops already, so things are in more than capable hands.
