At this point, it’s getting increasingly more difficult to decide which piece of new pertaining to “Crisis on Infinite Earths” is most awesome. So far, we’ve learned that both Tyler Hoechlin and Brandon Routh will suit up as different iterations of Superman, with the latter portraying the Man of Steel from the Kingdom Come timeline. And if that weren’t enough, LaMonica Garrett’s pulling double duty as the Monitor and Anti-Monitor, Elizabeth Tulloch returns as Lois Lane, Batman ’66 alum Burt Ward will show up, and – get this – Tom Welling and Lynda Carter are supposedly joining the party as well!
Now, alongside The CW confirming Cress Williams will get in on the action as Black Lightning comes word that beloved voice actor Kevin Conroy will make the leap from DC animation to live action by playing a Bruce Wayne from the future. If you were to ask me, that sound you’re hearing is millions of Bat-fans around the world cheering in unison.
Right now, it remains unknown exactly which version of Bruce Wayne Conroy will embody. Naturally, we’d think this’ll be a live action answer to the geriatric iteration known to Batman Beyond viewers, which’ll no doubt raise questions as to whether Terry McGinnis will fight alongside him. Conversely, he could be playing the Batman who’s gone missing from Batwoman‘s Gotham City for the past three years, only he’s traveled back in time. Or, he could be a combination of everything just mentioned – fingers crossed.
If you must be brought up to speed, Kevin Conroy is often regarded as being the definitive voice of the Caped Crusader for good reason. After taking the geek world by storm in the early 1990’s with Batman: The Animated Series, he went on to voice the timeless icon on Justice League Unlimited and as the aforementioned retired Bruce Wayne on Batman Beyond. In addition to those productions, Conroy also lent his pipes to numerous animated film and video games, including the critically acclaimed Arkham franchise.
