Last year, IFC rolled out the star-studded spoof comedy The Spoils Of Babylon, and now, the series is upping its quota of stars for the sequel – The Spoils Before Dying. Produced again by Funny Or Die, the sequel season has already placed Boardwalk Empire‘s Michael K. Williams in the lead as jazz pianist Rock Banyon, and he will now be joined by a squad of returning stars from the first outing.
Per The Wrap, the six-episode season will star Kristen Wiig, Haley Joel Osment and Maya Rudolph, who are all poised to return alongside Michael Sheen, Val Kilmer, Steve Tom and Marc Evan Jackson. Newbies to the series include Kate McKinnon, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, Emily Ratajkowski, Andrew Daly, Chris Mulkey, Chin Han, Jack Kilmer, Patty Guggenheim and Berenice Marlohe.
With Funny Or Die once more at the helm, it may come as no surprise that Will Ferrell – reprising his Eric Jonrosh role – and his long-time collaborator Adam McKay are returning as well. The duo will executive produce along with Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele and Nate Young. Steele and Piedmont will also write the series, with Piedmont set to direct.

Set in 1962 during the height of the Los Angeles jazz scene, “The Spoils Before Dying” follows Rock (Williams) as he becomes the prime suspect in the double murder of singer and his occasional lover Fresno Foxglove (Rudolph) who is found dead in a car with another man. Panicked, Rock splits town for Mexico where he reunites with his one-time big band singer Delores O’Dell (Wiig). Determined to prove his innocence and avoid the electric chair, Rock and Delores head back to the U.S. on a dangerous journey for the elusive truth. All the while, Rock’s hard charging manager Alistair St. Barnaby (Osment) obliviously pressures Rock to record a mainstream jazz album.
