Following the news that Georgina Campbell and Cameron Cruffe have been cast in the lead roles of Lyta Zod and Seg-El respectively, SyFy’s upcoming Superman prequel series, Krypton, has rounded out 6 more of its series regular roles.
The biggest name of the list is arguably Ian McElhinney, who appeared as the honorable Ser Barristan Selmy in the first four seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones. He’ll be playing Seg-El’s grandfather, Val-El. We also have Elliot Cowan (DaVinci’s Demons, Luther) as Magistrate Daron-Vex; Ann Ogbomo (World War Z) as Primus Alura Zod; Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as an engineer named Kem; while Wallis Day (The Royals) and Aaron Pierre (Tennison) will portray Nyssa-Vex and Dev-Em.
As far as I know, the only established DC Comics character among these guys is Val-El, but I could be wrong as I’m not very well versed on my ancient Kryptonian history. Fortunately, Deadline has also provided a handy breakdown of the roles each character will play, which you can check out below:
[Val-El] is a rogue genius who believes that space exploration is a basic form of self-defense, and he has tried, without success, to warn the Kryptonian elite about the arrival of an ancient threat. Daron Vex is the Chief Magistrate of Kandor. His real business is defending Krypton’s established oligarchy against heretics and dissidents. Primus Alura Zod is Lyta Zod’s mother and a leader of Krypton’s military guild. She is an extremely tough and demanding training officer. Kem is a brilliant engineer as well as Seg-El’s best friend and partner in an underground tech-repair business. Nyssa Vex is a junior magistrate and the daughter of Daron Vex. Dev-Em is a cadet under the command of Primus Alura Zod.
Krypton doesn’t have an official premiere date just yet, but it’s expected to start shooting in Montreal very soon.
