The Witcher fandom has been in turmoil for months, following news that Henry Cavill would not return as Geralt of Rivia following the show’s third season.

Cavill’s departure forced the show to recast its lead character, and they tapped Liam Hemsworth to step into the role. This decision was broadly unpopular — not necessarily due to Hemsworth, but due to Cavill’s departure. Hemsworth’s status in the role was recently cast into doubt, however, after news of him and ex Miley Cyrus’ legal struggles came to light.

A few other fantasy properties are managing to leech a bit of spotlight from the big winners of the moment, as near-forgotten flops like John Carter somehow find a foothold on streaming. This isn’t enough to push Hogwarts Legacy from conversations, unfortunately, as yet another conversation arises surrounding the game’s damaging effects, and the harassment some streamers have received for buying a copy.

Following the broad success of Miley Cyrus’ Flowers, she and Liam Hemsworth are once again at odds. Hemsworth reportedly suffered pushback, following the song’s rapid rise on the charts, and reports arose that the star is now seeking to sue Cyrus for defamation, citing career issues like the near-loss of Netflix’s The Witcher. These rumors turned out to be false, according to a representative for Hemsworth, but that didn’t stop fans from wildly speculating about the future of the franchise.

John Carter somehow manages to reclaim popularity, despite poor reviews

John Carter bombed hard when it arrived in theaters, back in 2012, but it’s finding a new life more than a decade after its original release. The film, based around a broadly-influential Edgar Rice Burroughs book, performed horribly upon initial release, but in the years since it first hit theaters, it’s become a certified cult classic. Viewers flock to the title, these days, with some even dubbing it an intergalactic Indiana Jones

VTuber Pikamee quits streaming, supposedly over Hogwarts Legacy harassment

Popular VTuber Pikamee announced her intent to “graduate” from streaming, following several relatively inactive weeks. Her decision to depart comes following broad harassment the streamer faced for considering a Hogwarts Legacy playthrough — at least according to the VTuber’s fans.

They’re blaming pushback against the Harry Potter game for Pikamee’s departure, but the VTuber doesn’t directly address the game — or harassment — in her graduation announcement, and the decision to depart seems to have come long before any pushback began.
