Your Honor, the Marvel fandom would like to request a recess to come to a unanimous verdict on where it stands on the hype for Daredevil: Born Again. On the one hand, the fact that it’s finally going before cameras is hugely exciting, as is the joyful news that Jon Bernthal is coming back as the Punisher. And yet we also know that a couple of fan-favorites won’t be returning, and news of a major delay is only adding to the fear that the revival is already going off the rails. At least, Loki season two has caught a lucky break instead…
Daredevil: Born Again has only been shooting a few days, but it could already be headed for a significant delay
It’s Marvel’s most poorly kept secret right now that its upcoming Disney Plus slate is set to come out a lot slower than initially touted. While it’s yet to be confirmed, the latest rumored release schedule points to Born Again being one of the many to be affected by the changes, with intel suggesting it’s being pushed out of its original spring 2024 slot by at least a few months. That’s doing nothing to boost the morale of those already stung from the Elden Henson/Deborah Ann Woll news.
Jon Bernthal’s Punisher return might just be the beginning of a full-on Defenders reunion
Switching back to the positive side of things, though, it’s looking likely that Bernthal’s Frank Castle won’t be the only Defenders Saga veteran to feature in Born Again. New rumors are only adding to the already copious flames that Krysten Ritter will be reprising Jessica Jones too. Add in previous talk of Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and even Finn Jones’ Iron Fist getting MCU comebacks of their own, and it’s just possible that we might have a Defenders 2.0 on our hands. Now if it could find room for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast as well that would be great.
Loki season two looks to be filling a Brie Larson-sized gap in Marvel’s 2023 calendar
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s end-credits scene got us pumped for Loki season two, so it’s been frustrating fans that Marvel has yet to be forthcoming with a release date. According to new intel, however, it’s possible that the sophomore run of Tom Hiddleston’s Disney Plus show could be set to fill a gap in the MCU’s slate that was previously occupied by The Marvels. With the Brie Larson sequel recently heading to the fall, that left us without a big Marvel summer treat, but it appears Loki might be about to take on that honor instead. Now we just need the TVA to prune the timeline a little so July gets here sooner…
The court has yet to decide whether talk of M.O.D.O.K. making a shock return is permissible evidence or not, but we’d be willing to testify under oath that more Marvel news is on its way ASAP.
