The Voice of God has spoken, but it doesn’t mean we’re going to like it. Marvel deity Kevin Feige has finally declared the ins and outs of the Sacred Timeline, and in doing so has rendered countless hours of TV non-canon. Not to mention snuffing one beloved fave’s second life out of existence.
What’s more, Loki season 2 promises to become The Jonathan Majors Show in its second half, which is probably why Marvel is sticking by its current big bad come rain or shine. Let’s get cracking.
Kevin Feige pruning every single non-streaming MCU series means the resurrection of an icon never occurred
Ah, Phil Coulson. Few other MCU characters have had a more winding and convoluted screen history. For 10 years we wondered why his resurrection in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was never mentioned in the movies, but now it looks like we’ve finally got our answer. Thanks to Kevin Feige belatedly confirming Marvel Television’s shows are not part of the Sacred Timeline, we’re left to assume that the reason the Avengers were never told their old pal was alive was because, well, he wasn’t and Coulson’s small-screen adventures happened elsewhere in the multiverse. It’s a tough break, but knowing Coulson as we do, something tells us we haven’t seen the last of him just yet.
The Jonathan Majors love-train reaches new heights as controversial actor is praised to high heaven
The extent to which Marvel has steadfastly remained at Majors’ side in the wake of his domestic violence charge is almost as unexpected as the about-turn of the actor’s reputation in the first place, but so far no one involved with the studio has had a bad word to say against the Quantumania star. Quite the opposite, in fact. Director Kasra Farahani has gushed over Majors’ on-set abilities, shouting him out for the “invention” and “specificity” in his performance as Victor Timely, a role he describes as “operating seven levels above normal people.” Once again, we’re left feeling the star’s place as Kang is surprisingly secure.
Deadpool 3 director confirms for the nth time that, yes, some of those crazy cameo rumors are real
Shawn Levy’s in a tricky position right now as he has to continue keeping spirits up about Deadpool 3, what with it being unfortunately guaranteed to miss its release date thanks to the strikes, and yet not give away all of its secrets too soon. He’s found a decent compromise, hinting several times by now that the long list of rumored A-list cameos might be partially “fantasy,” but it does also spoil a few “real” ones, too. At this point, we’re almost 100% sure that — believe it or not — Taylor Swift is among those that are true, although we’re still waiting to see if Ben Affleck will join ex-wife Jennifer Garner in the movie.
