Mark Hamill isn’t letting it go, and right now he’s devoting himself to taking strenuous measures to achieve his goal, which is bringing the NBC sitcom American Auto back on the airwaves by any means necessary.
Ok I love #AmericanAuto.🇺🇸🚗 It’s so smart & SO funny w/ a perfect cast, headed by the endearingly clueless @AnaGasteyer. PLEASE take a moment to sign this petition to bring it back! THANK YOU.

(Remember: both #Brooklyn99 & #Taxi came back after being cancelled!) #FingersCrossed https://t.co/XjD1x8zRL7
Recently tweeting on the issue, the Star Wars actor is requesting people to sign a petition supporting the show’s return. Making it a point to draw examples from other series like Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Taxi that made their way back to the small screen, Hamill indicated the possibility of American Auto meeting a similar fate.
Of course, people had their respective views on the subject as diverse opinions flowed in. While some users concurred with Hamill, others didn’t mince words in displaying their disinterest.
I’ve worked in automotive for Ford and Mercedes. The show is unrealistic and staggeringly unfunny. I can recount a hundred real exchanges that are funnier than any premise in this show. Let it die.

Great cast, stellar writing, amazing social conversations. And @AnaGasteyer getting the credit and spotlight she deserves.

Me too! It’s a great comedy – reminds me of Seinfeld, 30 Rock, Arrested Development and Parks & Recreation. Huge potential for years of funny!!!!

This isn’t the first time Hamill brought the issue to popular attention as last week following the news of the show’s cancellation, the actor took expressed his disappointment over NBC’s decision, leaving a trail of shared and opposing sentiments in his wake
Returning to the broader topic, the heartbreaking news of American Auto’s cancellation was confirmed last week when the showrunners confirmed it wouldn’t be renewed for a third run of episodes. The ensuing disappointment was inevitable considering the workplace comedy has always been a popular subgenre.
Starring Ana Gasteyer, Harriet Dyer, Michael. B Washington and Tye White, to name a few, the series’ enthralling plot and notable performances earned it a 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, implying its success and future potential until it was cut off. With Hamill at the forefront, more fans will no doubt gather the motivation to demand the restoration of their favorite sitcom.
