Marvel’s Daredevil Series Will Air On Netflix In May 2015

To close out San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel held one final panel devoted to the 75th anniversary of Marvel Comics and the 50th anniversary of Daredevil. Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada was on hand alongside writers Mark Waid and Dan Slott, and before long talked turned toward the upcoming Daredevil series on Netflix (which, to the chagrin of fans, did not have a presence during Marvel's TV panel earlier in the week).

To close out San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel held one final panel devoted to the 75th anniversary of Marvel Comics and the 50th anniversary of Daredevil. Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada was on hand alongside writers Mark Waid and Dan Slott, and before long talked turned toward the upcoming Daredevil series on Netflix (which, to the chagrin of fans, did not have a presence during Marvel’s TV panel earlier in the week).

Quesada spoke briefly about how the series is currently filming in New York City, and revealed that it is expected to arrive in May 2015, the same month as a little Marvel film you may have heard of called Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Quesada didn’t talk in detail about the series, but did say that he was excited to see the Man Without Fear team up with the likes of Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage (who are all getting their own series as well) in the planned Defenders Netflix mini-series.

We know that the Marvel TV universe will share the same continuity as the cinematic universe, so I wonder if we’ll see any Daredevil easter eggs in Avengers: Age of Ultron. We know from the back half of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s second season that Marvel meticulously plans the release dates of their films and TV projects so that they coincide with one another; could Daredevil somehow tie into the larger events in Age of Ultron? We’ll just have to wait until May 2015 to find out.

Developed by Drew Goddard, Jeph Loeb, and Steven S. DeKnight, Daredevil stars Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox as the titular blind vigilante, who’s joined by Elden Henson as his best friend and business partner Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as his love interest Karen Page, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, the villainous crook known as Kingpin, Peter Shinkoda as Hachiro, and Rosario Dawson in an as-yet-unspecified role.
