Although Ultimate Spider-Man certainly had a memorable run, all television series have to end at some point. Still, the folks at Disney XD aren’t done with the wallcrawler, and have opted to launch a new animated venture in the form of Marvel’s Spider-Man, which looks to be a good jumping on point for younger fans who may have only been recently exposed to the character via his integration into the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper.
Not only that, but this seems to be very much a back-to-basics approach to the Spider-Man mythos, which is a good idea after Ultimate had more of a fantastical bent. That said, we know that Spider-Gwen and Miles Morales will both appear in the show at some point, not to mention Spidey’s perennial foes the Sinister Six, which is all very exciting.
Up until now, we’d be left wondering when exactly we’d get to see the series premiere, but Marvel has now pulled the lid back, telling us everything we need to know. Earlier today at D23, the studio revealed that the new animated show will be launching on August 19th at 7am EST on Disney XD with a one-hour episode.
Furthermore, we also got the complete voice cast for the series and can now tell you that it features Robbie Draymond as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Nancy Linari as Aunt May, Nadji Jeter as Miles Morales, Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacy, John DiMaggio as The Jackal, Alastair Duncan as Vulture, Scott Menville as Doc Ock, Max Mittelman as Harry Osborn, Patton Oswalt as Uncle Ben, Melanie Minichino as Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl, Fred Tatasciore as Max Modell, and Joe Quesada as Joe.
Just in case all of that isn’t enough to satisfy you, Marvel debuted some new footage from Spider-Man as well, which you can see above. It’s brief, like the previous trailers, but it’s a nice tease of what’s to come and as of now, we can definitely say that we’re excited for Spidey to swing onto our television screens later this summer.
