Marvel binge watchers rejoice! Up until now, when Disney Plus debuts a new Marvel show, it releases episodes once a week, as it does with Star Wars shows. This strategy is employed sometimes by other streamers, but for the most part we’re used to getting our shows all at once. Perhaps Disney realized this because Hawkeye spin-off Echo is going to be released all at once.
This is a brand new strategy for Disney, and time will tell if it makes a difference or not. Maybe they feel like people lose interest when they have to wait for shows? I can’t speak for everyone, but that’s what happened when I tried to watch She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It’s a good show; I just forgot about it.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed the new strategy at Disney’s Upfronts, per Deadline.
“In Hawkeye, fans were first introduced to Maya Lopez, a character played by Alaqua Cox. She will return to get her revenge in Echo, a limited drama from an incredible team of indigenous writers, directors and cast members. And in a first for us all episodes will drop on November 29,” he said.
Echo is a deaf Native American who can “echo” the fighting style of any opponent she faces. The character of Echo has appeared in several different Marvel comic books like the Avengers, Moon Knight and Daredevil.
Speaking of Daredevil, stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin) will also appear in Echo, presumably setting up some tension for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. Cox is having quite the year herself, both professionally and personally.
The actress recently revealed that she was pregnant on Instagram. “Best Mother’s Day gift We can’t wait to meet you, baby boy” she wrote in the caption.
All episodes of Echo release on November 29.
