As the world prepares for the tipping point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Multiverse Saga with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the urge to daydream about how everything could play out gets more irresistible with every passing moment.
Indeed, with everyone expecting Kang the Conqueror to dwarf the threat that Thanos posed, all while wondering how Earth’s next generation of champions will band together to even begin to stand a chance, the possibilities are a multiverse in and of themselves.
One hope is that some of the MCU’s surviving Phase One veterans will offer an experienced presence for some of the Multiverse Saga’s newer players, but one such old-timer might actually end up stealing the spotlight for himself, according to a few voices on r/marvelstudios.
Loki has come a long way since being the first villain to have his plans foiled by the Avengers, and as one of the few characters who already has experience in dealing with Kang variants, it’s no stretch to imagine that he’ll end up playing a key role once crunch time rolls around. At the very least, the second season of Loki will likely be a necessary watch if one wishes to grasp the nuances of Phase Five and Six.
Others are hoping that Thor and Loki cap off an illustrious career as the MCU’s premier Asgardians by sealing whatever deal is presented by Kang and the rest of the Multiverse Saga’s narrative.
Of course, that might require Loki to be killed off, which, as we’ve seen in the past, is a nigh impossible move to make.
Whatever is in store for the god of mischief, we’re sure he won’t be a bench player when Kang comes knocking; after all, few MCU characters have managed to drum up a fanbase quite like Loki has, so playing him up as much as possible would be a wise move for Marvel Studios no matter what.
The first season of Loki is available to stream on Disney Plus, in case you need a refresher as we gear up for the release of the second season later this year.
