Fans of The Walking Dead thought they’d stumbled onto a major spoiler when set photos from Fear the Walking Dead season 4 showed Melissa McBride – who plays Carol over on TWD – on location. It wouldn’t be ridiculous to suggest that Carol could crossover from one show to the other, seeing as Lennie James’ Morgan Jones is doing just that next season. But is that really what’s going on here?
While catching up with ComicBook.com, McBride revealed that, no, she was not on the set of Fear because she was guest starring on the spinoff show. She was actually there to work with one of the series’ directors, in the hopes of picking up some directorial tips.
“I was out there shadowing Michael Satrazemis who’s directing one of the episodes. I went out there for about three weeks to shadow him while he directed.”
While Carol won’t be appearing on Fear anytime soon, McBride may have revealed another interesting nugget of news instead. Going by her comments, it seems likely that she’s gearing up to direct an episode of either The Walking Dead or Fear in the future. If we’ve got it right, McBride would be the first TWD cast member to helm an episode of the show.
The actress then went on to talk about how, seeing as she won’t follow him onto Fear, after all, she’ll miss spending time with her co-star Lennie James on The Walking Dead. The pair have, in particular, worked closely together over the past couple of seasons of the show, so it must be tough to say goodbye. Though that’s something the TWD cast have had to get used to over the years.
“I just love Lennie and I love his face. I love his eyes are so soulful and it’s always a remarkable thing to work with him. So present, always so present as Morgan.”
Carol might not be appearing on the spinoff, but fans excited for the crossover between the two shows still have much to look forward to when Fear the Walking Dead season 4 arrives on AMC in just a few weeks (April 15th).
