Now having taken in three episodes of Riverdale, something has become very apparent to me: Never, ever miss the final minutes because there’s going to be some kind of a shocker and/or crazy cliffhanger that guarantees you’ll be coming back the following week.
In this case, it’s the trailer for next week’s episode, “Chapter Four: The Last Picture Show,” that has everybody talking. Long story short, Miss Grundy isn’t who she says she is.
When the series kicked off, I found myself quite surprised when Miss Grundy was cast so young and wrote it off as the producers taking advantage of developing a “Hot for Teacher” scenario with Archie, which they’ve done. But now, we’re learning that some identity theft may be afoot and she’s assumed the identity of an elderly woman named Geraldine Grundy. We highly doubt that this mysterious young woman has gone all Buffalo Bill and has a body in her basement, but you never know.
It’s highly doubtful that she’s Jason Blossom’s killer because, let’s face it, blowing the lid off such a compelling murder mystery just isn’t going to happen in the fourth episode. But, red herring or not, nobody will want to miss seeing how this thread unravels.

HOLDING ON — When Jughead (Cole Sprouse) learns that an anonymous buyer has plans to tear down the local drive-in, he fights desperately to keep it open. Betty (Lili Reinhart) finds her friendship with Archie on the line after stumbling upon some startling information she’s uncovered about Miss Grundy’s (guest star Sarah Habel) past.
Elsewhere, Veronica (Camila Mendes) confronts her mother Hermoine (Marisol Nichols) about a suspicious meeting she witnessed between her mother and a shady Southside Serpent. Finally, after uncovering Betty’s diary, Alice (Madchen Amick) finds the perfect opportunity to destroy Archie’s golden boy image.
