It’s entirely understandable that Netflix would want to remain in the Arnold Schwarzenegger business given that he’s one of the most iconic figures in all of Hollywood, as well as the star of the streaming service’s latest smash hit original.

Based on the overwhelming sense of critical apathy to have greeted FUBAR so far, it’s entirely accurate to say the only reason the action comedy is proving so popular is because the legendary actor is playing the lead role. If anybody else was front-and-center, then it would be getting trashed for its banal adherence to formula, but it gets a pass based solely on Schwarzenegger.

The series does end on a season 2-baiting note, but until that day comes, Arnold and Netflix have partnered up to deepfake him into some of the platform’s biggest-ever shows including The Queen’s Gambit, Wednesday, Emily in Paris, The Umbrella Academy, You, and many more besides.

Needless to say, it’s nothing short of utter nightmare fuel, and you may not be able to sleep if you manage to make it through to the end without descending into a garbled mess of humanity.

If anyone needed any more reasons as to why the incoming AI revolution isn’t a good thing, then watching Schwarzenegger’s face placed on top of characters from popular TV shows while talking about boobies is one way of doing it. Another season of FUBAR we can handle, but this? Dear lord no, it’s the stuff of something even worse than nightmares.
