After the critical success that was Marvel’s Daredevil, it comes as no surprise that Netflix has renewed the Man Without Fear’s television series for another season. What is surprising, however, is the fact that it will arrive sooner than expected, as it is now slated to hit the streaming service sometime next year.
Marvel officially announced the news today along with word that Steven S. DeKnight will not be returning as showrunner due to a prior commitment. Instead, he’ll be replaced by Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Doug Petrie and Sons of Anarchy‘s Marco Ramirez, who served as producers on the first season, while Drew Goddard and Jeph Loeb will remain as executive producers.
The rest of Marvel’s Netflix slate appears to remain intact, as A.K.A. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are still scheduled to premiere later this year and in 2016, respectively. Daredevil will simply get another stint of crime-fighting before Iron Fist and The Defenders arrive, which is fantastic news for fans of the series, which left plenty of threads for the writers to explore in future seasons. It also means that similar things could happen for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, should their respective shows garner the same goodwill and viewership that Daredevil has.
