As Iron Fist teeters on the edge of production, Marvel and Netflix’s latest series has cast David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, 300) as Harold Meachum, an old confidant to Finn Jones’ headline star, Danny Rand.
Marvel officially confirmed the casting coup via press release, shedding light on Meachum’s character and his longstanding connection to Danny’s past and, in particular, his parents. In essence, Wenham’s suit is billed as “a ruthless corporate leader, Harold Meachum was partners with Danny Rand’s parents at the time of their deaths. What role he plays in Danny’s past and future will be revealed over the course of the series.”
[zerg]He’ll be joining Game of Thrones‘ Finn Jones (Danny Rand) and Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing) for Netflix’s Iron Fist series. In welcoming Wenham on board, Marvel’s TV department rolled out the following statement:
“I’m very excited to have David as our Harold Meachum. David is capable of displaying raw, visceral strength as well as extremely keen intelligence,” said Executive Producer and Showrunner, Scott Buck. “This will add up to a character of complex depth who will keep us off balance all season.”
“David brings both a vulnerability and a danger to his many diverse roles,” said Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb. “This key quality creates a gravitas our series requires as Danny unravels the secrets behind Rand Enterprises.”
Iron Fist will get the cameras rolling later this month. In related news, Daredevil himself Charlie Cox revealed earlier today that The Defenders, Marvel and Netflix’s superhero ensemble piece, will jump-start production later in 2016. There’s also the series premiere of Luke Cage to look forward to on September 30.
