When it was first revealed that Ghost Rider was coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., one of the biggest concerns among fans was whether or not a character like that could be effectively portrayed with a TV budget. After all, the Spirit of Vengeance needs to be brought to life with special effects, and those often aren’t the best in even the most expensive of shows.
Thankfully, one thing everyone can agree on is that Ghost Rider was looking great in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season four premiere. While his inclusion in the ABC series didn’t result in a massive ratings surge like expected, he’s still been widely praised despite not being the version of the anti-hero (Johnny Blaze) that most comic book fans were hoping to see debut in the MCU.
A new featurette has now been released by Marvel today which sees VFX supervisor Mark Kolpack take us behind the scenes of how Ghost Rider was created in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The amount of work which went into creating him is impressive to say the least, and it’s fair to say that it paid off, as Ghost Rider is expected to be a big part of the show moving forward as it seemingly shifts its focus from Inhumans to the supernatural side of this world.
Tell us, did you tune into the premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4? If so, what did you think of Ghost Rider?
