With the Doom Patrol TV show quickly approaching its premiere on DC Universe, a new trailer has dropped online today which assembles this unconventional team and allows viewers to get a better look at them.
From what we can tell, it seems like DC’s hoping that this will be the Guardians of the Galaxy of their streaming platform. Or, to put it another way, the small-screen version of Suicide Squad. It’s even been reported previously that Diane Guerrero’s Crazy Jane has been shaped to be the Harley Quinn of the group.
Of course, she isn’t the only one who’ll be catching viewers’ attention, as we also have April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, who’s able to changer her body at will. Joivan Wade, on the other hand, will be bringing us the show’s take on Cyborg and it’ll be fascinating to see how he differs from the version of the character we saw Ray Fisher play in Justice League.
But the colorful cast doesn’t end there, as we’ve also got Brendan Fraser as Robotman, a former race car driver whose brain has been transplanted into a robot body after an accident destroyed his own. And last but not least is Matt Bomer’s Negative Man, a former pilot who developed a “radioactive soul-self” after crashing into a pocket of negative energy. They’ll all be brought together by Timothy Dalton’s Niles Caulder, aka The Chief, who’ll be the leader of the line-up.
Given that Doom Patrol is set to share its continuity with Titans as part of its own universe, fans are hopeful that this new gang of oddballs will find success on the small screen. Their initial debut on the aforementioned show was a promising one, but we’ll see how they handle their very own series when Doom Patrol premieres on February 15th.
