Earlier this month, Hulu finally disclosed the premiere date for their horror anthology series, Castle Rock. The streaming service will make the first three episodes of its J.J. Abrams-produced show available on Wednesday, July 25th.
Orbiting around the fictional Maine town created by Stephen King, and featured prominently in the “Master of Horror’s” canon, including The Dead Zone, Cujo and, most recently, Revival, Castle Rock will be “an original tale that combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling” of the author’s best-loved works.
In addition to the premiere date, Hulu also released a new teaser trailer recently which you can check out up above. While the footage shown doesn’t provide much insight into what the series will be about, it does highlight some of the high profile talent that will be inhabiting the titular town, which includes André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Scott Glenn.
If the trailer isn’t your particular brand of vodka, though, Entertainment Weekly has now posted their report from “the set of Stephen King’s most terrorized town,” which includes a trio of new photos for your viewing pleasure. Pictured below are Bill Skarsgard as a mysterious prisoner at Shawshank State Penitentiary, (no, Skarsgård will not be reprising his role as Pennywise), Scott Glenn as The Dark Half and Needful Things character Alan Pangborn, Sissy Spacek as Ruth Deaver and André Holland.
Speaking about the series in a recent interview, Abrams revealed that King himself loved the idea for it, recalling the moment when he first pitched it to him.
“Castle Rock is this town that [King] made famous in all these different books; and these two two writers, Dustin Thomason and Sam Shaw, came up with this incredibly cool, terrifying, weird, funny idea of a series, new story, that takes place in this town. And all of these characters from Stephen King’s books sort of are peripherally involved. We pitched it to Stephen King. He went nuts for it.”
Look for Castle Rock to hit Hulu later this summer on July 25th.
