Netflix is home to a lot of different shows which look at various areas and realities of life. Some — like One Day at a Time — did not last, while others, like Sex Education became huge hits, and now, the coming of age U.K. comedy is ready for its final season of humor about the realities of learning about intimacy as a teen.
Netflix posted the above trailer for the Asa Butterfield and Gillian Anderson-led piece earlier today and it does not shy away from the wild and sometimes raunchy humor the project has become known for. At the start, Butterfield’s Otis Milburn tells a crowd that he learned everything he knows about sex from his mother, and then after we get the audience’s reaction, Ncuti Gatwa’s Eric Effiong comes in as the voice of reason and reminds Milburn he needs to clarify things to avoid further chaos.
“For goodness’ sake, just tell them you’re a sex therapist!”
Online response to the tease has been mostly positive as of this story’s filing. For many fans, they are amped up while being a bit sad the project is coming to an end, while others are hoping various characters they have come to know and love get their metaphorical happy endings. One says Otis and an earlier partner would have been best, but, because the story has taken its natural twists and turns they are happy with who he is with now and their pairing is the most compelling of all.
What will actually happen remains to be seen. For now, all audiences can do is wait until the Sept. 21 debut and, if you do not recall, what is ahead will essentially be a reboot of sorts. The last season ended with Otis and his friends needing a new school after Moordale Academy ended up being closed down and, star Aimee Lou Wood — who plays Aimee Gibbs — says many characters will end up feeling a bit askew.
