Olivia Munn will star in a new story arc on Fox’s hit show New Girl. According to Deadline, the actress will play Angie, who is described as “sexy, earthy and charming.” The character will serve as a love interest for Nick (Jake Johnson) and is said to fit in well with the group.
We already know that new characters and relationships will develop in season two for the stars of New Girl and Munn’s character should provide an interesting love interest for the intelligent and humorless Nick.
Munn will film her New Girl episodes before production starts on season two of Aaron Sorkin’s HBO show The Newsroom, in which she stars as economist Sloan Sabbith.
It’s nice to see the actress continuing to balance television and movies, having found success in both mediums. For those who don’t know, she recently starred in the films Magic Mike and The Babymakers.
Other actors confirmed to appear in season two of New Girl include Justified star Raymond Barry, Halloween actress Jamie Lee Curtis and This Is Spinal Tap‘s Rob Reiner.
It’s difficult to say if her character will have longevity but the cast of New Girl has a lot of chemistry and Olivia Munn could be a welcome inclusion to the show.
No matter what happens with her role, the addition of Olivia Munn and other guest-stars to the second season of New Girl should continue to add buzz to the Emmy nominated show.
New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone airs Tuesday nights, 9pm EST on Fox.
