We may not know exactly what season two of Our Flag Means Death has in store for us, but David Jenkins doesn’t shy away from giving viewers just enough hints to keep them afloat.
On May 15, the creator and showrunner took to Twitter to answer a very particular fan suggestion, and in doing so, basically told us the fate of Stede Bonnet’s romance with the infamous pirate Blackbeard. When someone addressed Jenkins explaining why they need the pair’s reunion scene to be set to a demo of “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac, he gave quite an eyebrow-raising reply:
“Not saying they get back together… but if they did… there may be an even better track for that… but who knows what will be.”
Say no more, Jenkins, we hear you loud and clear. Naturally, after the heartbreaking yet hopeful conclusion to season one, many already expected Stede to make his way back into Blackbeard’s arms, so getting a subtle confirmation is far from shocking. Now, the true challenge for fans will be to figure out which song will be playing during the iconic reunion scene. (No, we don’t know what it will look like yet, but we’re pretty sure “iconic” is an accurate way to describe it.)
Unfortunately, the premiere date for Our Flag Means Death season two is yet to be announced, so there may be a long way to go before we see the much-awaited reunion grace our screens. Lately, HBO Max seems far more preoccupied with providing highly controversial remakes no one intends on watching.
