It’s been announced by various outlets that NBC has picked up DC Comics’ workplace comedy, Powerless, to series, and along with the news we have the first official banner image and two stills introducing some of the principal characters.
A couple of months back, some unofficial set snaps gave us our first look at Crimson Fox (actress still unknown) in costume, and although she’s glimpsed in one of these images, the focus is placed firmly on the average, every day office workers played by Vanessa Hudgens, Alan Tudyk and Danny Pudi.
For more on what to expect, take a look at the official synopsis below, which touches on the event that sets the show’s narrative in motion.
Vanessa Hudgens stars as Emily, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It’s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult ‘hero’ in her own right … even if it’s just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers.
Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.
It’s an intriguing concept to say the least, and could make for a welcome change of pace from the rest of the superhero shows on TV right now, many of which take themselves juts a tad too seriously.
No word on when we can expect Powerless to premiere just yet, but keep an eye out for updates.
