The thing that drives me crazy about the Liars is that in general they seem to have the best intentions, but somehow their plans always tend to backfire in the most horrific ways.
Hannah protecting her mother from being prosecuted for a crime she didn’t commit – awesome. Hannah rubbing her fingerprints all over the gun before attempting to bury it in the woods and getting caught red handed when the police receive an anonymous tip – not so awesome. Emily “borrowing” the key to Wilden’s apartment to look for clues to prove that someone else besides Hannah’s mom killed Wilden – fantastic (er, well, at least she was doing it for the right reasons). Emily’s mom unknowingly taking the fall for her daughter and possibly losing her job, not to mention dodging a car that hurtled right through the front of her house – not so fantastic.
‘A’ thrives on this type of thing. It’s when they do the thing that is unpredictable that “she” is caught off guard. When the Liars ambushed Mona at the lodge in Thornhill and Red Coat had to save them from the fire, it was the first time we’ve seen in a long time that they got the best of ‘A’ – or, at least surprised her. And frankly, it was a nice change of pace.
The guys taking charge and forming their own detective agency-type thing to figure things out, also a nice change of pace. The visual aides were definitely a nice touch, as well. We’re so used to them being on the periphery of situations it’s almost strange to see them take the initiative and go on the offensive. The Liars are constantly on the defensive with everything that ‘A’ throws their way that they don’t have much time for anything but strategizing ways to fix everything that ‘A’ has broken. Having some collaboration to cover both fronts can’t hurt their cause any – well, fingers crossed.
Speaking of offensive, It looks like we may get another dose of Cece Drake (Vanessa Ray) in the near future. We haven’t heard much about her lately, not since we found out that she was acquainted with Wilden and had visited Mona (Janel Parrish) at Radley. She’s always been a good suspect for Red Coat, if not ‘A,’ since she had a relationship with Alison (Sasha Pieterse) apart from the Liars. Although we only seem to get her in spurts, she never seems to be very trustworthy.
Not unlike the airport employee who didn’t exactly seem to be bursting with honesty. My guess is that his mystery female guest wasn’t Cece. In fact, it is probably just another ploy to throw everyone off their games. Either way, now that Wilden’s been taken out of the picture, it won’t take long before she slithers back to town from wherever she’s been laying low. Do you think Cece could be the person they’ve been looking for or is she just another one of ‘A’s’ pawns?
There’s been a lot of characters that have been missing in action in recent weeks, who do you most want to see make a return visit on an upcoming episode of Pretty Little Liars? Let us know in the comment section below!
