Pretty Little Liars Review: “She’s Come Undone” (Season 4, Episode 21)

Valentine's Day is officially over and Pretty Little Liars is pouring on the heartbreak. Not only is Aria (Lucy Hale) suffering from the abrupt end of her relationship, but she's consumed with all the 'what if's' that go along with the betrayal. Ezra (Ian Harding) may have tucked and ran to New York after their ultra-emotional ski lift confrontation to avoid watching the fall out of his decisions, but Aria is free falling toward rock bottom and it looks like she's got plenty of time before she hits the ground - lucky her.

It looks like in the midst of the chaos we’ve discovered Ezra’s antagonist. In an unlikely twist of events, it looks like he pegged Spencer (Troian Bellisario) as Ali’s elusive killer based on a fight that both Cece (Vanessa Ray) and Mrs. DiLaurentis (Andrea Parker) witnessed on the night of Ali’s supposed death.

The problem with that theory is that it was that same time period that Spencer was going through her first bout of prescription drug abuse i.e. gaps of time missing from her memory. Now that she’s abusing amphetamines again, she’s in a fragile state. The news that she may have been a suspect, or even just the possibility that she may have threatened to hurt Ali that night, leaves her with a  bitter taste in her mouth. And as abruptly as she came into the idea, in true Spencer style, she confronts it.

Spencer isn’t the only one acting on mere instinct on this episode of Pretty Little Liars. Hannah (Ashley Benson) is going to bat for her potential new love interest, Travis (more, please!). Her new-found chemistry with a certain detective comes in handy, and Travis (Luke Kleintank) is seeing stars as a result. One would think this would be one more step in the right direction for him, but Hannah’s emotions may backfire on him yet.

After her recent visit to Ravenswood, Hannah seems even more emotionally conflicted than before. She and Caleb are still off, but it looks like Travis isn’t the only guy in town that has some charming qualities worthy of her attention. Under normal circumstances, dating an officer of the law might be a good idea, but does Hannah really want to put that much energy into keeping her secrets from someone that actually has access to check up on them?

Plus, now that Emily (Shay Mitchell) came clean to Paige (Lindsey Shaw), and Paige left that lovely anonymous note for whichever lucky officer drives that particular squad car, the police are presumably going to have their work cut out for them. This will once again put the Liars under investigation for their attachment to Ali, and Detective Holbrook (Sean Faris) will turn into a professional pumpkin.

Are you bummed that the possibility of a Hannah/Travis/Holbrook love triangle will have to settle for the world of fan fiction, or are you still holding out for Caleb? Do you think Paige will come clean to Emily about what she did before Emily finds out the truth the hard way? How long do you think it will take before we see Aria and Ezra do the in-person thing again? Let us know all your theories about Pretty Little Liars in the comments section below!
