Hannah (Ashley Benson) was really on a role tonight with all her theories about who might be in the coffin, and I’m not convinced yet that she’s wrong. It was definitely an interesting twist bringing in the friends of the blonde that went missing nearby around the same time and seeing the parallels between the groups. It’s possible that this girl is the one they’re looking for (technically already found) even if the dates don’t line up completely. I imagine that someone under duress could easily convince themselves that they had seen something they didn’t. This still leaves the question though of why would someone go to this much trouble to make everyone think it was Ali?
Even if the Liars manage to figure out the answer, can Ali really come back from something like this? There are still plenty of things she’s done wrong both before and after her disappearance to keep in mind, and I love that someone is finally being honest about what kind of person Ali really was/is.
Since all the information we’ve gotten so far has pretty much been second hand, either in conversations or from flashbacks, it’s hard to say we really know Ali – but anyone can do the math. Emily (Shay Mitchell) isn’t the first Liar to question the Queen B, but she’s definitely been more vocal about her growing distaste recently. Understandably, it was easier to put Ali on a pedestal when everyone thought she was dead, but now with her being alive, it seems a little less underhanded.
Speaking of underhanded, I’m not sure if Pretty Little Liars is now purposely making Ezra (Ian Harding) appear to lean toward the shady side, or if now I’ve been predisposed to think he’s ‘A’ and am simply looking at him differently, but either way something’s going on. The entire bring Aria (Lucy Hale) out into the middle of nowhere scenario is almost too alluring for viewers not to be taken in by it. It’s almost as if we are being set up similarly to how the Liars have been duped before.
Let’s not forget that there were a few episode when everyone was convinced Toby (Keegan Allen) had gone over to the dark side, and that didn’t quite hold up. Barring the extremely awkward (read: terrifying) conversation between Mona (Janel Parrish) and Ezra that that was dripping with subtext, I’d still like to keep my fingers crossed for a little while longer that this is all just a gross misunderstanding.
Do you share my optimism when it comes to Ezra or are you convinced we’ve finally discovered the real ‘A?’ Will the Liars keep looking for answers or will they eventually have to face reality? Either way, someone doesn’t intend to stop looking for Ali and plans to use the Liars to find her.
