Pegged for a premiere on February 19, the CBS All Access original series takes place a full year after The Good Wife finale, which bowed off the airwaves in 2016 after seven seasons. Series creators Robert and Michelle King are back behind the lens and have assembled many of the personnel involved in the original show.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew Perry, Rita Wilson, Denis O’Hare, John Benjamin Hickey, Jane Alexander and Michael Boatman are all set to reprise their respective roles next month, but those holding out for the return of Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick needn’t get their hopes up.

“We talked to Julianna about the show and her relationship with it and we agreed that kind of The Good Wife ended that story. It would be weird to see her come in pushing a garbage can in the background.”

The absence of Margulies shouldn’t be all that surprising, as CBS clearly wants The Good Fight to stand on its own two feet. Leslie will take point as Maia Rindell, an enthusiastic young lawyer who finds her reputation in tatters amid an enormous financial scam. That scandal “simultaneously wiping out the savings of her mentor and godmother Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski). Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo) at one of Chicago’s pre-eminent law firms.”

CBS has slated The Good Fight for a premiere on Sunday, February 19 when Delroy Lindo, Erica Tazel, Sarah Steele and Justin Bartha will round out the show’s starry ensemble cast.
