Patrick J. Adams (Suits) and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, Event Horizon) will join Zoe Saldana in the new Rosemary’s Baby miniseries on NBC. Based on author Ira Levin’s iconic 1967 horror novel of the same name, the four-hour miniseries will be directed by Agneiszka Holland with the help of a screenplay from writers Scott Abbott and James Wong.
Set to begin production this month, Adams will play the role of Rosemary’s husband while Isaacs is set for the part of coven leader Roman Castevet. For those unfamiliar with the plot, check out the summary below:
“Saldana will play Rosemary, the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.”
So far, I think the casting for this one is shaping up to be pretty impressive, which should ease the concerns of those who feel that this miniseries never needed to happen in the first place.
Isaacs is an under-appreciated actor and his previous experience as evil Death Eater Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series will act as a useful transition to his role here. As for Adams, it will be refreshing to see him shed his likeable college dropout persona from the show Suits to take on a series with a more dark and mysterious tone.
