‘Star Trek: Picard’ is getting the IMAX treatment for its series finale

'Star-Trek: Picard' is going out in grand style and the third and final season will end on the big, big, screen at select IMAX theatres.

Trekkies will be thrilled to hear the final season of Star Trek: Picard is getting the send-off it deserves as it heads to the IMAX screen to be displayed in all its glory. The final two episodes will be available to watch at 10 participating IMAX theatres around the U.S. ahead of the finale release on Paramount, so fans may want to get their alarms set for the online ticket registration.

The event will take place on April 19, the day before the final episode airs on Paramount Plus, with a showing of the penultimate and final episodes of the third and final season of the show. The best thing is that the tickets to this screening will be completely free according to Variety, and will be available to register for on April 12 at 10am PT from this official site.

The event will take place at 10 participating IMAX theatres in Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Orlando, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, and Dallas. So depending on how hardcore a fan you are you may need to travel a little distance if you are lucky enough to get tickets but unlucky enough not to live close by.

And you may want to make the journey when you hear what else is in store for ticket holders. There will be a special final season poster giveaway and concessions made available to those in attendance as well as a live Q&A with the cast and crew including, Sir Patrick Stewart, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Brent Spiner, Jeri Ryan and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Terry Matalas. This will take place at the Los Angeles IMAX and be broadcast live to the other theatres involved around the country.

The final season rounds out the series that followed the character of Jean Luc Picard (Stewart) who starred in the earlier series, Star Trek: The Next Generation which ran for seven seasons. Star Trek: Picard shows the next step in Picard’s journey, with the final season coming to a close after Picard receives a message from an old friend that requires him to set off on a new and dangerous mission.

You can catch the third and final season of Star Trek: Picard over on Paramount Plus, with the penultimate episode airing on April 13, and the final episode on April 20 for those who are unable to get their hands on an IMAX ticket.
