The Resistance is afoot.
Ahead of its fall premiere on Disney XD, the Mouse House has officially peeled back the curtain on Star Wars Resistance, the anime-inspired TV show which features the voices of Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie (and BB-8!), the star-crossed duo who were previously seen at loggerheads during The Last Jedi.
For Resistance, though, Lucasfilm plans to roll back the years to a time before The Force Awakens, when budding X-wing pilot Kazuda Xiono mounts a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order.
Beyond that, little is known about the core plot, but today brings forth our first peek at the show’s ensemble cast – a cast that is naturally divided between the dark side and the light.
First spotted by Heroic Hollywood, above you’ll see a screengrab from Disney’s presentation, which, if nothing else, gives us some clues as to the characters and overall art direction underpinning Star Wars Resistance. Mind you, it’s not a million miles away from the style of Rebels, and we imagine that’s Kazuda Xiono front and center. Amid the ranks of the First Order is Captain Phasma, a pair of modern Stormtroopers and a fleet of TIE Fighters.
Joining Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie in the voice booth are Christopher Sean, Suzie McGrath, Legion actor Scott Lawrence, Myrna Velasco, Josh Brener, former Scrubs star Donald Faison, Bobby Moynihan, Jim Rash and Rachel Butera of Tammy’s Tiny Tea Time.
Star Wars Resistance has been cleared for take-off. Its ETA? Sometime this October on Disney XD.
