Heralding the long-anticipated coalition of costumed crusaders – namely Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the kid with the Iron FistThe Defenders is the culmination of three years and four standalone series involving some of Marvel’s biggest names, and as San Diego Comic-Con draws near, Entertainment Weekly has blown the lid off some new artwork for Marvel and Netflix’s team-up series.

True to form, the picture below is divided into four color-coded segments – neon blue for Krysten Ritter’s P.I.; orange for the Hero for Hire; sun-kissed yellow for Finn Jones’ Danny Rand; and, finally, blood-red for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. If you happen to be one of the fortunate few attending SDCC next weekend, you’ll be pleased to note that this exclusive poster, one designed by Marvel TV creative director Joshua James Shaw, can be snagged at the show’s signing panel on Saturday, July 22nd. Expect that one to get underway at 10 am PT at SDCC’s Marvel Booth, where Jon Bernthal will be swinging by to promote The Punisher.

Does that mean Bernthal’s glowering vigilante Frank Castle is a shoo-in for The Defenders? It’s possible, but even if that long-rumored cameo doesn’t come to pass, Marvel’s ensemble series still features a who’s who of A-list talent.

With the exception of Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra, many of the characters set to appear in The Defenders have been plucked from those aforementioned standalone series, including Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Scott Glenn (Stick), and Rachael Taylor (Trish “Hellcat” Walker), Elden Henson (Foggy), Eka Darville (Malcolm), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Simone Missick (Misty Knight).

All eight episodes of The Defenders will become available to stream via Netflix on August 18th. But don’t be fooled into thinking that Marvel and Netflix’s superhero output is reaching an end – new helpings of Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Luke Cage will reportedly be with us at some point in 2018.
