When it was revealed that Supergirl would air on CBS, comic book fans were dismayed. The more natural fit for the show seemed like The CW, a network the likes of Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow call home. The problem was that they didn’t want to become known as a network only responsible for superhero content, but that soon changed.
Why? Well, the success of shows like the ones listed above played a big role in that as did the fact that CBS decided against airing a second season of Supergirl, a move which left the door wide open for The CW to add it to their lineup and create a really strong Monday viewing block headlined by the Girl of Steel.
[zergpaid]How Supergirl is going to fit into the shared DC Universe created by the network remains to be seen, but The CW has today released a poster welcoming the character to the channel. The tagline is particularly interesting, and it seems likely that Supergirl is going to become a focal point of the way they market their DC Comics adaptations moving forward. After all, Kara Danvers is a character who will bring in a lot of female viewers and is arguably the most iconic hero on the network thanks to the symbol on her chest and her rich comic book history.
With Superman set to make his presence felt in the premiere, Supergirl returns to The CW on October 10th.
