In just a matter of weeks, The CW will see its second major DC TV crossover this season, albeit involving two of the major players in Supergirl and The Flash as part of a musical extravaganza. Now, thanks to some recently released synopses, we know much more about what the plot will entail.
Let’s begin with Supergirl, which will kickoff things on Monday, March 20 with “Star-Crossed.” Unfortunately, this installment looks to be more of its own thing, as was the case with the series’ part in last fall’s four-show crossover. Therefore, we fully expect no spillover until the closing minutes.
Still, there will be much to look forward to, as this episode will contain the highly anticipated debut of Teri Hatcher, who will serve as the big bad for the remainder of the season. So, even if you’re disappointed by not hearing any jazzy tunes, you do have the assurance that this offering will be quite significant in the grand scheme of things.
Here’s the official word:
“A new villain (guest star Teri Hatcher) comes to National City, putting Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) on high alert. Meanwhile, Winn’s (Jeremy Jordan) girlfriend, Lyra (guest star Tamzin Merchant), gets Winn in trouble with the law. Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) attempts to help Winn but old loyalties get in the way. The Music Meister (Darren Criss) attacks Supergirl.”
Then, on Tuesday, March 21, The Flash truly gets the ball rolling with the appropriately titled “Duet.” What’s especially exciting about this is that we’ll actually get to see some Supergirl supporting characters in Mon-El and Martian Manhunter journey to Earth-1, something that didn’t happen in “Heroes vs. Aliens.”
Here’s more of what you can expect from that week’s episode of The Flash:
“Barry (Grant Gustin) and team are surprised when Mon-El (guest star Chris Wood) and Hank Henshaw (guest star David Harewood) arrive on their Earth carrying a comatose Supergirl (guest star Melissa Benoist) who was whammied by the Music Meister (guest star Darren Criss). Unable to wake her up, they turn to Team Flash to save her. However, the Music Meister surprises The Flash and puts him in a similar coma, one that Team Flash can’t cure. Kara and Barry wake up without their powers in an alternate reality where life is like a musical and the only way to escape is by following the script, complete with singing and dancing, to the end.”
