The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been rocked by another wave of assault allegations being made against one of its stars, with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever debutant Tenoch Huera branded a “sexual predator” by saxophonist and activist María Elena Ríos.
Of course, it didn’t take long for similarities to be drawn between the situation and the claims leveled against Jonathan Majors, made all the more coincidental by the fact he too made his first major appearance in the MCU as the primary antagonist of a major sequel, although Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was only a drop in the ocean for a formerly fast-rising star who was pegged as the big bad of the entire Multiverse Saga.
It goes without saying that the least important aspect of somebody being accused of such misconduct is the state of a comic book adaptation, but it can’t be ignored that Huerta also has one of those coming down the pipeline at Netflix. Mark Millar’s The Chosen One is set to premiere later this year, and looking at how fast the industry moved to pump the brakes on Majors’ past, present, and future after he lost deals, endorsements, and projects in the aftermath, it’s not unreasonable to expect a similar scenario.
Developments are ongoing in regards to Huerta, although his unsavory social media history has already been brought up as a result, meaning the lay of the land could be very different for any number of reasons by the time The Chosen One hits Netflix on August 16.
