The CW Boss Teases A Major Death To Come In Crisis On Infinite Earths

DC fans went wild when it was announced following last fall's "Elseworlds" crossover that the next Arrowverse multi-part event would be an adaptation of "Crisis On Infinite Earths," arguably the biggest event to ever come from the pages of DC Comics. As well as lots of multiversal mayhem, it promised that there'd be some major changes to the status quo as the comic book event features the deaths of one or two iconic heroes.

And it looks like we can expect something similar to happen on TV, too. The CW president Mark Pedowitz revealed to the assembled press at the Television Critics Association that it’s “highly likely” that “Crisis” will result in at least one death. What’s more, he even hinted that it “may be a remix of its comic book source material.”

For DC fans who watched “Elseworlds,” Pedowitz’s words seem to confirm a popular theory devised after the final episode of the last crossover. In it, Superman discovered that the Flash and Supergirl were due to perish fighting the Monitor, as written in the Book of Destiny. Oliver Queen then went to see the powerful cosmic entity and bargained something in exchange for Barry and Kara’s lives.

It’s widely assumed that Green Arrow swapped his own life for that of his friends. As Pedowitz puts it, this would be a “remix” of the source material as – spoilers for a 40 year old comic book – the Flash and Supergirl are the ones who die on the page. Perhaps the Monitor gave Green Arrow one year to live and will come to collect his due in “Crisis”?

It would be a huge deal to lose the Emerald Archer, as Stephen Amell’s vigilante is the founding father of the Arrowverse. Not only that, but it also leaves Arrow‘s fate hanging in the balance, after its confirmed eighth season, of course. Interestingly, though, Pedowitz also spoke of the “new generation” of Arrowverse heroes at the TCA, suggesting that Arrow may continue with someone else taking over Oliver’s green hood.

We’ve still got quite a ways to go before we find out if we’re right, but for now, tell us, do you think Green Arrow might die in “Crisis On Infinite Earths“? Let us know in the comments section down below.
