Right now, The Mandalorian continues to go strong on Disney Plus. Its eight-episode third season is near its end, more is coming, and, now, someone from the production crew has addressed just when we will end up with more in the story of Din Djarin and Grogu.

In a new article published by Collider, director and series producer Rick Famuyiwa addressed reports the next chapter in the Pedro Pascal-played character’s story will begin filming within this year. He says it’s not a secret everyone is excited for more, and the episodes for the fourth season are already written. So, when you take this in combination with current time and logic, it’s doable.

“I don’t know. I’d be shocked if they just stopped making them at this point. But yeah, I think that just the way the shows come together, and the process around the shows, I know that they’re deep into starting the prep and the pre-production process. Now exactly when it goes to lens and things start to shoot, I don’t know.”

Later in the report, fellow director and executive producer Dave Filoni is also asked his thoughts about the possibility. He says making more of The Mandalorian this year is a safe bet more so than his favorite hockey team from Pittsburgh making the playoffs, but if they do end up improving their efforts on the ice, there is a chance his answers about the show will improve, too.

“I’m going to say this and feel bad about it, but that’s a better wager right now, on more solid ground than if my Penguins are going to make playoffs because we have three games left, we’re one point behind, we gotta win out. That’s going to be tough, but I believe in the boys. I think they can get it done, so we’ll see. Maybe if the Penguins make playoffs my answers will get better. So, we all have that to look forward to. Otherwise, you’re going to be bummed it’s going to take longer for me to write.”

In the meantime, the final episodes of this season of The Mandalorian are coming Wednesday and April 19. In the coming years, Filoni will give the character and others introduced in his corner of the Star Wars franchise their own feature film finale, too. Though, to be fair, it is also worth noting Filoni has also directed the lowest-grossing and worst-received Star Wars film, also.
