“Do Not Send Us Astray.”
That’s the title attached to Sunday’s episode of The Walking Dead, and if today’s extended clip is anything to go by, things are going to get worse before they get better for Rick and the gang. Much worse.
Case in point: Morgan Jones can be seen confronting his inner demons up above, and it’s fair to say that Lennie James’ performance continues to hook viewers even after eight years and countless episodes as the fan-favorite survivor. He’s also bound for AMC’s companion series, Fear The Walking Dead, next month as part of the network’s long-rumored crossover. But first, there’s some unfinished business to tend to; specifically, “unexpected visitors” and “heartbreaking discoveries,” as the official logline for 8×13 teases:
Trouble arises when unexpected visitors arrive at the Hilltop and the community is thrust into action; heartbreaking discoveries are made.
And while The Walking Dead has struggled to maintain a steady viewership this season, next week’s episode has all the makings of a great one. We’re fast approaching the season finale, after all, so it’s all but certain that the show’s creative players have one or two more twists up their sleeves before handing over the keys to Angela Kang, the long-running TWD scribe who’s primed to take over as showrunner for the ninth season. Stay tuned for more on that one.
Meanwhile, season 8 of The Walking Dead continues with the premiere of “Do Not Send Us Astray” on Sunday, March 25th, and it’s looking increasingly likely that another major character will bite the bullet before AMC stages its two-part crossover event with Fear The Walking Dead on April 15th.
