Nipping at the heels of Sunday’s “Do Not Send Us Astray,” AMC has pumped out an extended clip for The Walking Dead 8×14, and it’s every bit as breathless as you’d expect from a series that’s fast approaching its explosive finale.
With the Hilltop and its ragtag community still reeling from last week’s attack – you can thank Simon (Steven Ogg) and Dwight (Austin Amelio) for that one – 8×14 turns things up a notch with a dose of full-blown warfare. Negan and his Saviors have their backs against the ropes, which, in turn, opens up a window of opportunity for the vengeful Rick Grimes.
Officially titled “Still Gotta Mean Something,” Sunday’s all-new installment promises to be a big one for Daryl and Rosita, too, who will seemingly come into contact with an “old friend,” according to the episode’s official logline:
With the threat of the Saviors still looming, Aaron continues searching for allies; Daryl and Rosita take action and confront an old friend.
And though The Walking Dead ratings have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, AMC’s undead juggernaut struggles to retain the same viewership it did during the height of seasons 4 and 5. Much of that can be attributed to the actual writing – the fuel that drives The Walking Dead – after a recent video identified some of the reasons why viewers are beginning to switch off after eight years of zombie drama.
“Still Gotta Mean Something” will nudge Rick and Morgan towards uncharted territory on Sunday, April 1st, by which point The Walking Dead season 8 will be tantalizingly close to its extended, super-sized finale – a finale that will bear the title “Wrath.”
